The next day was really a travelling day to make the mileage to the ferry to Kangaroo Island. We had to cover 400km to make it to the ferry in time and then travel another 90 km or so on Kangaroo Island itself.
We were up for it!
We just scheduled two stops along the way: one walk to a Pelican colony look-out point and one stop for lunch.
Not a lot of pictures from this day, except some evidence of the absolute vastness, emptiness, and remoteness of the place. Such a big country, so few people.
And then the ferry to Kangaroo Island. Dirk was impressed with the art of loading the ferry. I must say, they do a pretty good job!
Once on Kangaroo Island, we still had to drive quite a bit to our beach cabin, a part of it in the dark. I kid you not, we had two almost-collisions with big-ass kangaroos, so we slowed down significantly after the first one, which made us avoid disaster for the second one. As a result though, it took us longer to get to the cabin, but that was just fine!
