The next day decided to visit a wildlife sanctuary. Kangaroo Island was very hard hit during the fires in Summer 2020, and most of the 13,000 Koala population had been decimated! We definitely still saw the scarring of the fires, but at the same time, nature had rejuvenated itself again.
All of the Koalas and Kangaroos were rescues from those fires. How great to see how the community came together to save these incredible animals.
After that we headed off to Stokes Bay for another beach experience. This one was a beach hidden by a rock formation you had to squeeze through. The day was warm and sunny so after Mees, Lina and I decided to brave the cold water. Once we got used to the cold temperature, it was actually quite nice!
We topped of the day with Seal Bay. We could not get to close because they are wild animals, but to see so may of them, relaxing, swimming, hunting, it was quite special indeed.
And that marked the end of our stay on Kangaroo Island. The next day we were heading back to mainland for our final leg to Adelaide and then back home to Singapore.
