We found a nice place to lunch on the way and did some grocery shopping at the nearby gas station. Grocery shopping as well as lunch and dinner planning was something to keep an eye on because, unlike what we are used to, shops are not as frequent and widespread.
Once we got to Cradle Mountain and had settled in our lodgings, we went for a quick walk in the reserve. It was almost sunset and that was a lucky as at that time, unbeknownst to us, the wombats come out! We saw so many, and up close! It was a real treat and despite the fact it was windy and cold, it was definitely worth it!
The next couple of days at Cradle Mountain, leading up to Christmas, was filled with hiking and activities and we had the weather with us. Sunny and dry. Which was again our luck, because it rains at Cradle Mountains 360 days out of 365!
When we left we decided this was definitely a place to come back to once Mees and Lina are older. There are multiple multi-day hikes leading to such natural beauty spots! No wonder this site is a UNESCO heritage site!
