Last time we were in the BVI, we did not make the crossing to Anegada, the island furthest out. It is about a 4 hour sail, and you have to keep to the course because it is super flat and sparsely inhabited, and therefore does not really stick out on the horizon. In other words, easy to miss!
In addition, getting to the mooring balls is a bit tricky because of the reefs, but since they planted some buoys a couple of years ago, it has become much easier to navigate.
So off we went and it was a very pleasant sail out.
The island itself was indeed pretty deserted. We "rented" a car (basically you could just take it with you - impossible to steal anyway) to explore and discovered some impossibly pretty beaches!
Overall, great part of the trip although it was a bit eerie with somewhat of a deserted island feel with almost no humans around.
