Bank Holiday weekend

Monday was a day off, so we decided to make a little family trip to the sea. Mees also had a vote, so castles were on the menu. We chose Barton on Sea, since it had 2 castles in the neighbourhood, is located at the sea side, and only a 2-hour drive. Added bonus was that it was located right at the end of the "New Forest".

The forest is extremely green and provided us with some much needed fresh air and forest smells after our first 4 months in London.

The New Forest is also home to the New Forest Pony. One of the native pony breeds of the British Isles.  The breed is indigenous to the area and apparently has lived there since the last Ice Age. There are currently thousands roaming wild. Wild meaning the horses can roam free, but are fairly tame and monitored (the adults all had a collar).

Mees and Lina liked the ponies, but liked the muddy puddles even more. We were off to a good start. Mees was so excited she couldn't wait what else we had in store.
