This year was no different and of course she gets us all excited.
April the 20th was around Easter this year so school was closed and a lot of people on holiday. We therefore decided to invite her class to a party when school was back in session on the 27th of April, and had a more intimate BBQ at our house with friends on the 20th itself.
Both parties were a big success and Lina was very much enjoying being the centre of attention. She is a very rewarding subject.
The morning of!
The family staple is to get out all the flags, have a birthday hat and a birthday cake at breakfast. Otherwise the celebrations would not be complete. Lina made her birthday list well in advance so we all knew what to buy. Mees was very generous and spent almost all of her pocket money on her little sister. I was very proud and impressed with her.
The BBQ Party
Christina made an extremely delicious chocolate cake, we had bitterballen and frikandellen, and even very special guests from the Netherlands: Arne and Ankie!!
The Birthday Party
Lina wanted something with sports so we hired PlayBall who provided coaches and material and the basketball court at the Hollandse Club. Afterwards we served food and drinks in the restaurant there and also had the big Rainbow birthday cake.
