We decided to have the party at home. We hired an entertainer for 1,5 hours who would dance with the girls (a dance party) and the last 30 minutes would be for snacks and cake. At this age group all parties Mees has been invited to have a 2-hour duration, se we did not deviate from an apparently proven formula.
First we had to prepare the house. So part of the living room was cleared out and the kitchen was prepared for the coffee drinking moms (that decide to stay - some also drop off the kids) and the snaks for the girls.
All the preparation made Lina and Mees hungry so they ate some of the pastries we got for the adults. A pre-treat.
The entertainer also brought a face painter, to the delight of everyone, including Lina.
After that it was dancing, jumping, blowing horns, twirling, more jumping. To a tune ranging from gangnam style to classical music. It was extremely difficult to make any sharp pictures because no one ever stood still for even one second!
And then it was Cake time!! Mees wanted a barbie doll cake and had been watching "How to make barbie doll cakes" on Youtube for the past 2 weeks or so. So she was super excited when she saw her cake (Thank you Waitrose). We made little sandwiches, fruit on sticks and little wraps and they ate the whole lot, I guess 1.5 hours of exercise helps...
It is customary (like in the US) to only open the gifts after the party, so after everyone had left, Mees had her own little afterparty (Lina was completely knackered and in bed).
And to add the cherry on the cake, in the afternoon, she got her presents from mum and dad: a loooooonngs awaited scooter, and a little suitcase.
She declared she had the BEST day EVER, and the best mummy and daddy because we listened to her and remembered exactly what she wanted. :-)
