Angkor Archaeological Park (2/3)

The next day it was time to venture out on our own.  We loved it.  We had planned a route on the map that would take us to some temples clockwise through the park. The tuk-tuk driver did the rest.

5. Preah Khan
This is also a tree overgrown temple, an arguably more impressive than the more popular one of Ta Prohm. It is close to the water where you get a good impression of the vast marshlands that border some of these temples. Apparently you can also go visit some floating villages, but we decided not to do that.

6. Neak Pean
A Small little temple in the middle of a lake. Not much to say about it except it was quite quaint and still worth the visit.

 

 

7. Ta Som

Another nice little temple. Definitely off the beaten track and so much less crowded than the popular temples of day 1.

 

 

 

8. Pre Roup

This temple is quite different. Different stone and very high. We bought a book about the Angkor archaeological park, but obviously we never opened it to look at all the archaeological data... Going up was tiring, going down quite scary..

 

9. Prasat Kravan
The last one of the day to round off the tour. A little one before we were heading back to the hotel to lounge and swim. We started the day at nine-ish (never did the whole sunrise / sunset thing) and skipped lunch, so kids (and we) could use some food by the poolside :-)
