This year we decided to stay closer to home for the summer holiday. We went to Northern Spain for two weeks and covered the Northern Coast line. In short I would describe it as very beautiful, relatively un-spoilt and very Spanish. The latter referring to the absolute inability to have dinner anywhere before 9pm, which took some time getting used to, especially for Mees and Lina, and the fact that very few people speak English. So we had to brush off our Delft Spanish skills from days long past - which was quite funny.
We has 5 stops along the way, starting in Bilbao and finishing in Santiago de Compostella.
We only stayed one day in Bilbao so the obvious stop was the Guggenheim. Beautiful building. After that we stopped for a break along the coast on our way to Santillana de Mar, a beautiful old village near an even more beautiful coastline. Here we stayed for a couple of days enjoying the beaches and cliffs.
