Thailand - Kanchanaburi (2) - Erawan Falls, WWII cemetery, Prasat Muang Singh

After a good night sleep and finally a little lay-in after all that travel, we headed out to Erawan Falls. Erawan Falls has seven levels dropping over 1,500 meters and is regarded as one of the more beautiful in Thailand. Mees and Lina climbed all 5 levels after which we had to turn back because a big rain shower (we were there in the rainy season).

After the Falls we had some lunch and headed out to the bridge over the river Kwai and the WWII cemetery which was very impressive. All the Dutch soldiers that perished in Thailand have been transferred to this cemetery, which also houses British and Australian soldiers. The average age of these soldiers is 20-30 and to see so much familiar family names in a cemetery so far away from the Netherlands is really quite emotional.

After this we went to Prasat Muang Singh. a historical park that provides evidence of the area's inhabitation before the arrival of the Khmer. It was a great place to wonder around and Mees and Lina loved all the ruins.

It was a very busy but very satisfying day!
