Cornwall (Part 1)

We went on a short break to Cornwall. A looongg drive that took us past Stonehenge, but that fact was little consolation for the 8 hours it took us to get there. Granted, it was the scenic drive, but we had not expected that amount of congestion. So we learned our lesson and on the way back took the M4 and M5, which brought us home in 6 hours instead of 8. Mees and Lina were amazing though, and let their imagination distract them throughout the journey.

Getting there was very well worth it though: what a beautiful part of England and what an amazing coastline. The view from the hotel was a good start.

We opted for a mix of castles and beaches which turned out to be a perfect combination as often the weather cleared up around lunch time, so perfect for an afternoon on the beach. The first day we went to explore the beaches near our hotel.

 

  

After that the first main attraction was Tintagel Castle (ruins), rumored (unfounded) to have been the home of King Arthur and Merlin, perched high up the cliffs. Pretty spectacular, and Mees and Lina did the climbing themselves.
