The rules are fairly simple: for good behavior by either one of them, a marble goes into the pot. And for bad behaviour by any one of them, a marble can be taken out. It encourages them to also ensure a good behavior of the sibling, and not just their own. If the bavahior, after taking out a marble, does not improve, it is still the naughty step.
I know, all very super nanny like, but it works! Since I am not home a lot, Dirk is in charge of the marbles. And for now, all of sudden, they get dressed as soon as they wake up before going down the stairs, they sit at the table, eat all their food - and try new foods, started talking about their day, etc. Let's hope the novelty does not wear off too quickly.
