Lina and Mees have been immersed in the spirit and it is all leading up to the ultimate highlight of Christmas morning.
Lina has been asking for her Peppa pig suitcase for months and Mees is dead set on a Barbie castle. We have somewhat been abusing father Christmas (if they are naughty he will not come...), so after Christmas we will have to think of a back-up plan...
The tree is now up (since last weekend). Smaller than previous years, primarily because they are ridiculously expensive in London. Mees and Lina helped decorate the tree and the living room. They were extremely pleased with the result and still admire the tree every morning when they get ready for breakfast.
The nativity play was a week ago Friday. Mees was the donkey which turned out to actually be a lead role because she accompanies Mary and Joseph throughout their journey ;-). No stage fright this year!
Mees and Lina have both been making their wishes known to Santa. They both wrote a letter, Santa wrote back, and even we already got a card.
So yes, you could say we are getting in the spirit. We are not going back to the Netherlands this year but staying at home. We will have visitors though: over Christmas Opa Joep and Oma Ine will visit, and over New Year Opa and Oma Pingen and favorite niece Jip are coming over.
And yesterday we discovered we also have a little elf at home :-)
